In a sea of legitimate and not-so-legitimate job postings scattered across the web and hundreds of millions of variously qualified job seekers, finding a job or a suitable job candidate is a laborious task.
Indeed and ZipRecruiter are here to facilitate the hiring process by bringing all active job postings to one place and allowing employers to easily improve the visibility of their postings and filter out unsuitable candidates. They represent two of the most popular hiring platforms in existence and their popularity is constantly rising. In this Indeed vs. ZipRecruiter comparison, we closely examine all the aspects of their services and determine which one of them holds a greater value for both job seekers and employers.

Here is a quick overview of our comparison process. First, we analyze the two brands of software independently and rate them based on how well they satisfy our 6 major criteria, including ease of use, product quality, features, privacy and security, value for money, and overall experience. Based on the scores they receive on every criterion, we calculate their total scores. The software with the higher final score is the winner of the comparison.

Ease Of Use
Both Indeed and ZipRecruiter are incredibly user-friendly. They allow job seekers to apply for jobs in just a click or two and employers can post jobs with equal ease. The search function works perfectly well on both platforms and the dashboards are highly functional and filled with useful and readily accessible features.
Indeed and ZipRecruiter platforms provide great user experience to both job seekers and employers and offer even more options than we expected. However, there is one aspect of their services that we are not satisfied with and that is user support. In this respect, ZipRecruiter does a bit better, as it offers support via phone, live chat, and email, although the staff is not too quick to respond. Indeed only allows you to get in touch with the support staff via a contact form. In order to get higher scores on this criterion, they should both significantly improve their customer support.
Value For Job Seekers
We are happy to say that both platforms offer free services to job seekers. They both have huge databases with millions of job postings, with Indeed boasting a slightly larger database. Furthermore, they both offer excellent search options, email notifications, and easy application. However, it is worth noting that Indeed is a bit more successful in its matchmaking efforts, as it delivers a higher number of hires than its competitor.
Value For Recruiters
When it comes to services provided to recruiters/employers, Indeed and ZipRecruiter take vastly different approaches. While Indeed is better suited for smaller businesses with more modest hiring needs and employers who want to set custom daily and monthly budgets, ZipRecruiter is a better choice for employers and recruiters who are constantly on the lookout for good candidates, have greater hiring needs, and want to enjoy all the benefits at a fixed price.
Indeed has a significantly larger resume database and more unique visitors per month. On the other hand, ZipRecruiter offers a more impressive set of features available to employers and recruiters and allows an unlimited number of candidates per job posting with all plans. Indeed charges per click, so the higher the number of applicants, the higher the cost.
Indeed and ZipRecruiter offer mobile apps for iOS and Android for both job seekers and employers. Indeed apps are slightly better feature-wise, but ZipRecruiter apps for employers are characterized by greater functionality. Both platforms offer excellent job search apps, with ZipRecruiter holding the title of the highest-rated job search app on both Android and iOS.
It is hard to say which platform impressed us more overall. On the one hand, Indeed wowed us with its incredible ease of use and amazing figures, boasting larger free databases and a higher number of hires. On the other hand, ZipRecruiter is extremely user-friendly and has huge databases as well. Plus, it features more straightforward pricing, offers slightly greater benefits to employers, and provides somewhat better customer support. Thus, it is safe to say that although different, they both provide excellent overall experiences. If they were to make some minor improvements, especially in terms of customers support, each could easily get the highest score on this criterion.
